Marianna Stuhr
MARIANNA STUHR is a visual artist specialising in painting, drawing, and printmaking. Her works are characterised by subtlety, finesse, and refined formal exploration. She uses classic painting techniques such as oil, acrylic, and watercolour, but also experiments with various graphic techniques.
She is appreciated for her expressive and symbolic art. Her painting touches on the realm of human emotions, relationships, and existential inquiries. She also creates entirely abstract forms and compositions. For the artist, painting becomes an act of meditation, and the painting itself takes the form of a narrative and an interpretation of this individual feeling.
She is considered one of the most influential Polish artists of her generation.
Marianna Stuhr is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and holds a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Currently she lives and works in the vicinity of Frankfurt, Germany.
Marianna is the winner of numerous scholarships and awards in art competitions, including scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the KoĹ›ciuszko Foundation, and the National Centre for Culture. Her works are held in the collections of the Museum of the City of Krakow; the Fondazione Italo-Svedese in Venice, Italy; the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow; the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw; the Polish Woodcut Quadrennial in Olsztyn; the International Association of the Graphic Triennial in Krakow; the University of Connecticut, Connecticut, USA; and Real Stories Gallery – Foundation “Arts for Humanity” in Durban, South Africa.
