Marianna Stuhr in America: A New Chapter at The Kosciuszko Foundation

On October 6, 2026, In-Betweenness: Landscapes of Suspension opened at The Kosciuszko Foundation in Manhattan. The exhibition, curated by New York-based art critic and independent curator Lilly Wei, presents paintings and an installation exploring memory, transformation, uncertainty, and the emotional experience of being in between.

The opening was followed by an artist talk on October 7, bringing together Marianna Stuhr, Lilly Wei, and Luiza Swierzawska. Their conversation explored artistic identity, personal experience, and the place of contemporary Polish art in an international context.

Both events attracted a diverse audience and received an enthusiastic response.

"The opening was a wonderful experience, and the conversation the following day was equally rewarding. We had such a diverse audience, and the response from everyone involved - the Foundation, the curator, and my agent - was incredibly encouraging," says Marianna Stuhr.

The exhibition has also attracted media attention, including interviews with the artist for radio and the press.

For Porto.art, the New York presentation is particularly meaningful. Earlier this year, the space hosted Stuhr's exhibition For the Records, offering audiences in Portugal an opportunity to engage with her distinctive artistic language.

"What makes us particularly happy is seeing how the artistic dialogue that began in Porto continues to develop beyond our walls. Porto.art was never intended to be simply a place to exhibit art, but a space for encounters and relationships that grow over time. Watching Marianna's work reach new audiences in New York is a beautiful continuation of that idea," says Maja Mlodzinska, co-founder of Porto.art.

The New York exhibition marks another important step in Stuhr's growing international presence. Its enthusiastic reception has already opened the door to new opportunities and exhibition projects in the United States in 2027.

For Porto.art, it is a reminder that the most valuable part of an exhibition often begins with the conversations and connections that continue long after its opening.
