Capturing Signals - an intimate exploration of memory, movement, and the language of lithography

From October 22, 2025, to January 2026, Porto.art presents a new exhibition by Bartłomiej Chwilczyński — Capturing Signals, organized by Maja and Sebastian Młodziński.

The opening will take the form of intimate meetings with the artist, held on October 22, 23, and 24, 2025, offering visitors an opportunity to engage in conversation and explore the works in a personal atmosphere.

The exhibition brings together works that explore the artist’s ongoing dialogue between lithography, drawing, painting, and collage. Often created while traveling, Chwilczyński’s pieces record the subtle dynamics of observation and memory — traces of moments suspended between seeing and recalling.

“Chwilczyński is an artist who listens to the world through layers of matter — paper, ink, stone. His works do not tell stories directly; instead, they resonate with the experience of looking — with fragments of perception, with what has been noticed and preserved,” write Maja and Sebastian Młodziński in the exhibition catalogue.

In Capturing Signals, the artist revisits and reinterprets his earlier graphic practice, creating visual compositions that merge the geometric order of lithography with the intuitive gestures of drawing and ink.

“The title of the exhibition can be understood quite literally — as an attempt to capture signals. It is a process of attentiveness, of translating fleeting impulses into image. In a world saturated with information, Chwilczyński proposes silence and focus,” the collectors note.

The exhibition is part of Porto.art’s ongoing program dedicated to presenting contemporary Polish art in Portugal — a private initiative founded by Maja and Sebastian Młodziński. Situated by the ocean in Porto, Porto.art is not a commercial gallery but an intimate environment for exhibitions and dialogue — a living space for art, reflection, and encounter.

“Porto.art is a place where art unfolds in the rhythm of everyday life — in light, in space, in conversation. Capturing Signals is an invitation to slow down and to listen to what an image can still reveal,” says Maja Młodzińska.

The exhibition can be visited by appointment at Porto.art, located by the ocean in Porto. Participation in the meetings with the artist is possible upon prior contact with th collection’s owners here.
