Porto.art's Opening Days. A Celebration of Contemporary Art and Human Connection

Porto.art, JUNE 18–20, 2025

From June 18 to 20, 2025, the opening of Porto.art took place – a new space dedicated to contemporary art, located right on the Atlantic coast, in Porto. The event brought together almost 100 guests: artists, collectors, art dealers, galleries, investors and friends from Portugal, Poland, Spain, the USA, and beyond.

For three days, the space was filled with conversation, encounters, contemplation, and shared moments centered around art.

The inaugural exhibition, featuring the work of Julia Curyło, presented paintings full of tension and humor – playful yet tinged with unease. Balloons, astronauts, mermaids, and tigers floated across the canvases, light as air but thick with meaning. Her paintings drew in the eye and held it, sparking conversations about sensitivity, childhood, fear, and hope.

“This was exactly what we hoped for – time to talk, to discover how others feel Julia’s work and understand our project. Porto.art was born out of a need for closeness and careful observation. And that’s exactly what happened.”

— Maja Młodzinska, co-founder of Porto.art

“It was also a time spent with friends and artists. I love being with them – shared conversations broaden horizons, shift perspectives, and help us see what really matters. Despite the unsettling imagery and contexts – which Julia does not shy away from – I feel that art is one of the few tools we have to lift our spirits while nurturing our sensitivity. And that, today, is something sorely missing in the world around us.”

— Sebastian Młodzinski, co-founder of Porto.art

A Private Contemporary Art Space with a Polish Heart

Porto.art is a new private space for contemporary art in Porto, created by collectors with more than 25 years of experience working with Polish art. From the beginning, our goal has been to create a place not focused on transactions, but on attentive encounters with art – through dialogue, reflection, and personal experience.

The first exhibition – a presentation of works by Julia Curyło – showed that there is room for initiatives born from the heart: family-rooted, friendly, independent. Without institutional frameworks, but with deep commitment and openness.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us – for the conversations, the emotions, the attentiveness, and the many perspectives.

The exhibition remains on view until September – visits are possible by appointment only, via phone or email HERE.
